Depend of your preferences regarding performance, comfort or safety combined with overall look of the vehicle, terms like Sport Utility Vehicle-SUV or Crossover Utility Vehicle-CUV (also called crossover SUV, or plain “crossover”) can be confusing.

Without any intention to additionally confuse you I want to clarify few things that maybe will help you in making decision when buying a vehicle that falls in these categories (assuming that you aren’t clear on differences between these two)...

SUVs (Sport Utility Vehicles)

SUVs are in general vehicles based on truck platforms so they can, for example, tow the boat. Often they are referred as 4x4 (equipped). Ford offer vehicles like Explorer, Explorer Sport Trac or Expedition. Thanks to attractive, sporty look and Intelligent 4WD System, Escape falls in this category, too. All of them are ready to go for OFF-ROAD adventures anytime...

CUVs (Crossover Utility Vehicles)

CUVs engineering is based on car platforms so these vehicles are either front-wheel (FWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) capable. They also have a bit smaller engines and are better on fuel consumption. Usually, seats in these vehicles are higher than in regular cars (up to 7 occupants) and their versatility is similar to mini-vans.

So, whether your lifestyle is based toward weekend getaways

or you just can’t imagine your holidays without your boat or a trailer, Ford vehicles from both categories certainly have advantages that will satisfy your needs to the maximum.
